Obituary for Lucy Jimenez

Lucy Jimenez of Waco, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco. A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, Oct. 18, at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Eduardo Jaso as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Lucy was born July 11, in Chilton, TX to the late Jesse and Barbara Ortiz. Lucy was a devoted daughter to her parents. She was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Lucy was married to the love of her life, Willie Jimenez for over 50 years.

Lucy was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and godmother. Lucy was blessed with a large and loving extended family. She took great pride in her nieces, nephews, and their families. Aunt Lucy and Uncle Wille kept busy attending school functions, sporting events and various other activities. She will be deeply missed by all her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Jimenez; her parents Jesus and Barbara Ortiz; brothers, Ronaldo Ortiz, Jesse Espinoza and Jesse Ortiz (nephew); sisters, Anita Martinez, Socorro Lopez, Paula Ballesteros, and Lupe Ortiz. Survivors include her sisters, Ester Gateff of Virginia, and Barbara Vasquez and Mary Lou Martinez of Waco, her nieces, nephews, and their families.

Pallbearers include Leon Jimenez Jr., BJ Martinez, Matthew McGinnis, Ethan McGinnis, Danny Espinoza, and Joe Hesbrook.

Honorary pallbearers will include her many nieces and nephews whom she helped raise and loved like her own.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to staff at the Jeffrey Place especially Tammy Lawrence and the two Ambers for providing excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Francis Catholic Church.
