At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his loving wife of 65 years, and family. Visitation will be Friday, July 19, 5-7 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home. Celebration of life will be at Seventh and James Baptist Church, on Saturday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m.. Burial with full military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. He attended Texas A&M and graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He was ordained into the ministry, and pastored his first church at 18 . After finishing seminary studies, he entered the Army as a first lieutenant.

During his 23 years of service, he completed two tours in Vietnam, where he performed more than 600 services. He was also stationed in Germany, Panama, New York, and Colorado. Some of the greatest memories I have are of listening to Bob's stories of Viet Nam. He was a vivid stoy teller. I loved to sit and listen.

I also remember the days when Bob was climbing on ladders. He totally ignored the "do not step above this level". Since I was across the street I would watch to make sure that he made it down. Sometimes he didn't and I would see him flying through the air. It never stopped him from stepping on the top step though. He would do it even though he might fly off.

Will miss Bob.
Love to Joyce, Robin and Jan.

Bob Jones was without a doubt one of the kindest, gentlest souls I had the privilege of knowing.

James and I both hung on his every word when he shared his stories about his years in the service. His knowledge of roses could be compared to no other.

He enriched our lives beyond measure with his friendship.

Joyce, we pray God gives you peace and hope you can rejoice knowing Bob is smiling down on all of us. I truly believe in the power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I spent much time with Mr. Jones, working in the kitchen, working in the yard, serving others. He was an example of what it means to serve others well. I loved our time together. He helped me to walk through what were some difficult years for me. I loved him, dearly.
