Obituary for John Perez

John Perez, 68, of Waco, Texas passed away at his home on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Visitation will be 6 pm to 8 pm Friday, January 29, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary beginning at 7 pm. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 12 pm on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with The Very Reverend Benjamin Magnaye as celebrant with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rosebud, TX.

John was born on March 8, 1952 in Rosebud, Texas to Sabino and Rosa Perez. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed dearly, but never forgotten.

He worked as a mechanic all of his life. John was a fighter, and no matter what circumstance he dealt with in life, he never gave up and demonstrated that to everyone. He passed this lesson on to his children and was an inspiration to all.

John had many hobbies, including watching his Western TV shows, wrestling, and Jerry Springer, but he loved fishing most of all. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

John was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia Marquez and Ignacia (Nancy) Medina; brother, Robert Perez; daughter, Sylvia Perez; and son, Juan S. Perez.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy Perez of Waco, Texas; sisters, Janie Locke, Delia Resendez, and Linda Perez all of Waco, Texas; and brother, Maxie Perez of Waco, Texas; his children with his first wife, Virginia Martinez, daughters, Sarah Valtierra and husband, Humberto, Melisa Perez, and Rachael Castorena and husband, Carlos all from Waco, Texas; his children with his second wife, Lucy Perez, sons, Jacob Perez and wife, Jamie, Gilbert Perez, and Joshua Perez; daughters, Carmen Salazar and husband, Roman, Sabrina Perez, Pricilla Perez, and Nicole Alma Ramos all from Waco, Texas. John is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Ricard Higgins, Jr., Christopher Elizondo, John Perez, Jr., Arthur Martinez, Jacob Perez, Humberto Valtierra, Emmit Crane, Jr., Jose Resendez, Joshua Perez, and John's dog, Chiquito.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his granddaughter, Adriana Perez, for his clothes, and to everyone else for their love and support during this difficult time.
