Obituary

Frances LaGene “Jean” White, 91, of Keller, Texas, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior in Heaven on Friday, February 26, 2021.

The graveside service will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, March 3rd at Oakwood Cemetery. Reverend Ron Durham will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, March 2nd at OakCrest Funeral Home. Social distancing and facial covering are required.

Jean was born in Henderson, Texas on March 21,1929. She attended Tyler Junior College where she met her future husband. A.G. and Jean married at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Sexton City, Texas on November 24, 1949. They were blessed with a loving marriage for 70 years.

Growing up Jean was the oldest child in her family and the only girl. She loved her three brothers. Many stories were told of all the fun they had. Two of her favorite childhood memories were going fishing with her grandmother, Mama Freeman, and singing in church with her granddaddy, Papa Freeman. Her family liked to have fun together. She loved when they would all fish together. Family vacations were special. One time they went to Carlsbad Caverns. Many times they went to Arkansas. She loved the picnics by the river and playing in the water.

Jean was a stay-at-home mom with her daughter, Pam. Jean loved her family. She enjoyed putting wonderful meals on the table and making sure her family was happy. She loved fishing and sailing. She spent many happy hours with her family sailing on Lake Waco.

She was an active member of the PTA. Jean later worked at the Waco Tribune Herald. She retired after working at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in the Human Resource Department.

Most importantly Jean White was a Christian. She loved the Lord. She was a member of Columbus Ave. Baptist Church in Waco, Texas for 43 years before moving to Keller. After moving to Keller she moved her membership to First Baptist Church Keller.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Hamilton Baker and Margaret Ruth Freeman Baker; and her loving husband, A.G. White.

She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Doug Durham and her granddog, Snuggles of Keller, Texas. Also, her grandson, Jeremy and his wife Kaitlyn Durham of Winterhaven, Florida and included as part of her close family, as a little girl until now, Janice Baker Bruce, who has and always will be a sister to Pam and a daughter to Jean and A.G.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Columbus Ave. Baptist Church in Waco, Texas.
