Obituary

Irene Tovar, 55, of Grand Prairie has gone to heaven on Monday, March 8, 2021 and is resting in peace. Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at OakCrest Funeral Home. Rosary and Vigil Service will begin at 7 pm with Deacon Jessie C. Garza officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, March 12, 2021 at St. Francis on the Brazos Catholic Church with Rev. Juan Diego Lopez as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Irene was born to Epifanio and Julia Gonzales on January 9, 1966 in Taylor, Texas.

She married Jesse Tovar on November 17, 1987 and renewed their vows on February 14, 2004. She worked from home, so she was able to be with and take care of her grandson Ace ‘My Darling.’

She had such a beautiful soul with so much volume and substance, filled with love, joy, and happiness. She carried her heart on her sleeve and shared every ounce of it with everyone she met. Her smile would bring waves of joy to everyone and her hugs gave you warmth and peace. She always cared, and worried about everyone else, what they were facing, or doing whatever she could to bring them comfort and happiness. She was a mother to all and treated everyone equally as if they were reason and optimism, there was always a brighter side no matter how dark things were. The strong faith she carried was radiant and she expressed that every day of her life. I’m honored to be her son and beyond grateful to call her MOM, she is and will forever be my backbone, the strongest woman I know. I love you Mom. Adam

My mom was my best friend and my light at the end of a dark hall. She was there every time we needed her, and she knew every answer. We did everything together and I am beyond blessed to have had her for 19 years of my life. I will miss her everyday, but I know she was just too good for this world. I love you momma. Mia

Irene loved playing soccer, running, and taking care of her family. She would brighten up the room and make everyone smile when she entered.

Irene was the greatest wife, mother, and grandmother ever!!!

She was preceded in death by her father and mother.

When I think of Irene, I think of LIFE! Her energy was so contagious that you had no choice but to be a part of it. When we worked together at Trinity Learning Center, in the early 90's, she convinced many of us to purchase work-out steps and bring them to work, so we could watch step-aerobic videos on our lunch break and stay in shape. She was like the "Jane Fonda" of our center.
Irene was also my son, Jordan's, teacher for the entire 5yrs that he attended Trinity Learning Center. I never had to worry about him, she loved and cared for him as if he were her own son. A couple of years ago, Jordan passed away and Irene and Jesse came to pay their respects. I was so happy to see them, it just filled my heart with joy. Our boys spent a lot of time together in those early years, which created quite a bond. I'm honored to say we were friends.

Irene was an important part of keeping Arlington Collegiate High School running. She was ALWAYS nice and helped EVERYONE!! Even after she left the school, we still kept in touch. My prayers go out to all her family and friends.
